Prof. Christobel Saunders (AO, MB BS, FRCS, FRACS, FAAHMS, 2018 Queen’s Birthday Honours List recognition, 2018 WA Women’s Hall of Fame Inductee International Women’s Day and 2017 WA Scientist of the Year).
Prof. Saunders is internationally recognised as one of Australia’s most prominent research-orientated cancer surgeons. She has substantially contributed to many clinical aspects of breast cancer research including clinical rials of new treatments, psychosocial, translational and health services research and is active in several areas of surgical oncology cancer research, with a particular emphasis on breast cancer. Prof. Saunders has performed research for over 25 years evaluating the efficacy and utility of therapy for early breast cancer. She was recently awarded a $9M dollar grant to undertake research into value based healthcare in WA.

Kath is author of the “Not So Secret Women’s Business”, a multi-award winning advocate and a voice for the millions of Australian women managing polycystic ovaries, vulval conditions, prolapse, endometriosis, fibroids, menopause, sexually transmitted infections, hysterectomies and more. At the core of her work Kath feels the time is now right to start straight-talking to alleviate the embarrassment around gynaecological issues. Twenty-three years after her initial gynaecological cancer diagnosis, Kath has not only survived, but thrived and dedicated her life to ensuring no other woman and families suffers in silence through her International Gynaecological Awareness Day campaign.
