Sydney City Council is hosting a free bread-making event on Friday 11th March at
Redfern Community Centre . Bread is an important part of many different cultures around the world. It holds significance in religious rituals and social customs and makes up an important part of various cuisines.
In this free workshop, you will learn how to make two types of bread: Jewish Challah bread - which is eaten during Jewish holidays - and Damper, which is an Aboriginal bread. You will also get to hear the history of these different breads and stories related to them.
This free Bread-making Workshop will be facilitated by
Our Big Kitchen , which is a community-run kitchen located in Bondi. With support from volunteers, Our Big Kitchen prepares meals and distributes them to needy people.
This workshop is one of the more hands-on activities within the
'Breaking Bread' program - which is held over three days and and focuses on sharing stories about common human experiences across different cultures. 'Breaking Bread' is one of the events within the larger
Living in Harmony Festival being held throughout the month of March.
The 'Breaking Bread: Bread-Making Workshop' is open to individuals, as well as families and children. The event is free, but be sure to book on the
Breaking Bread Eventbrite page to secure your place.
