Forget about brekkie at Maccas if there's an IKEA near you. The world's largest furniture store from Southern Sweden not only retails ready-to-assemble furniture but offers a supercheap breakfast at prices that are mind boggling. Having sampled the offering at the Sydney Homebush location I decided to check out the Richmond store in Melbourne.
I still can't fathom how IKEA can afford to provide their supercheap brekkie deals but my wallet was not complaining. For AUD2.95 I received the full works of sausage, bacon, scrambled eggs, grilled tomato and hashbrowns.
As an IKEA family member, which you can subscribe onsite for free, you receive a complimentary beverage. Coffee was not only the house but it had unlimited refills. The refills also apply if you purchased coffee as a stand alone beverage item.
I seriously doubt if such brekkie deals are available elsewhere in Melbourne. Although the dining environment oozes the cafeteria feel, the IKEA contemporary decor and generous table spacing provides a causal and comfortable space for enjoying a meal. Bulked up with food and caffeine, it was time to spend some money at the IKEA store.
