Bread Top first opened in Melbourne, and has since expanded to feature
two stores in Adelaide. Serving a range of buns, cakes, and baked goods, their flavours are drawn from Asian and European influences and will satisfy a range of tastes.
When you first come inside Bread Top you select your tray and tongs. Bread Top operates using a self-service method. Their walls are lined with clear pastry cabinets with their contents clearly labeled. You can browse their wares at your own pace, with no pressure from staff to choose a particular item, or even purchase at all. You can fill your tray with as many freshly baked goods as you like, as well as their pre-packaged buns and bread loaves.
Their goods really are varied. Select from muffins, red bean stuffed buns, donuts, custard buns, green bean and sesame balls, loaves of sweet bread, as well as ice cream cakes and mouses. They use many popular Asian flavours like red and green bean, green tea, and taro, and these are served alongside traditional European pastries.
The two Adelaide locations are found in the Southern Cross Arcade on King William Street, and on Grote Street, both in the City Centre. Bread Top's self service method works great for those wanting an introduction to Asian bakeries, without the pressure of making a decision on the spot. Use your time to browse the goods, and open up to a world of amazing flavour combinations.
Buns and pastries will usually cost you about $2.50 but all prices vary. Head in store to take a look at the full range they have on offer. The
Bread Top website also has a great list of products they serve.
