Not be confused with Butter & Toast in North Adelaide, Bread & Butter on Findon Road in Woodville is where you can enjoy cafe-style food. Many of their dishes feature bread. It is popular with the locals, there was a crowd of a good size when we visited.

The house made beef meatballs in the Breakfast Meat Balls dish were of a good size and juicy. They had a delectable savoury flavour and sugo sauce added extra flavour. The scrambled eggs were light and fluffy, and the topping of basil and herb sauce partnered with it nicely. Cherry tomato salsa provided a fresh element, and the sourdough bread was not overtoasted. We were able to have the Parmesan cheese served on the side.

We liked that the scrambled eggs in the Chilli Scrambled Eggs were done as well as that in their Breakfast Meat Balls. House made chilli sauce gave the dish a spicy kick that is suitable for most tastes. Extra heat was provided by pickled green chilli and the chorizo had the smoky and spicy taste that we expected. Radish slices added a slight crunch to the dish. We had the sour cream served on the side. Its creamy taste was a good foil to the chilli sauce.

The brioche in their French Toast was not heavy and was cooked sufficiently to give it a golden-brown colour. Bananas, blueberries and strawberries were the seasonal fruits featured and they retained their texture. Yoghurt labne partnered nicely with the fruits, and macadamia and pistachio crumble added a crunchy element. The miso butterscotch sauce was not too sweet. Freeze-dried raspberries and edible flowers gave the dish an eye-catching appearance. While the dish was sweet enough as-is, maple syrup was served on the side for those who want additional sweetness.

The cafe had a cosy feel and large windows ensured it did not look gloomy. If you are looking for a good place for tasty cafe food at Woodville, be sure to give Bread and Butter a visit.
