Brazen is a Netflix movie starring Alyssa Milano - based on the Nora Roberts book
Brazen Virtue.
Grace Miller (Milano) is a well-known crime author with an uncanny instinct for solving crimes. Following the release of her latest book, she travels to visit her sister Kathleen (Emilie Ullerup) who is involved in an ugly custody battle with her ex-husband following their divorce. Kathleen, who is a school teacher, reveals to Grace that she has dug up dirt on her ex, and plans to use it against him to get her son back.
Ed (Sam Page) is Kathleen's hunky next-door neighbour - he also happens to be a cop. He catches Grace's attention one morning, whilst doing renovations on his house. The two agree to go out for dinner, but on returning home, Grace finds her sister dead. Although he's on leave, Ed returns to work, at Grace's request, to lead the investigation into her murder.
Attention, of course, first goes towards her ex-husband, but it is soon discovered that Kathleen had a secret - she was also working as an online dominatrix - and when one of the other 'ladies' she works with is killed and then posed, in the exact same way, Ed has to refocus the investigation, despite Grace's initial protests.
When the investigation stalls again, Grace volunteers to take her sister's place in the online world to flush out the killer - but will it backfire?
While this movie did have some predictable moments, overall the story was well written and flows from start to finish. Well worth watching.
