Free tournament poker is now becoming one of the fastest growing sports for all ages. I have sat at tables with eighteen year old carpenters' apprentices to 60 year old real estate professionals. All have one thing in common. They love to play cards. And what better than putting your skills against 30 to 80 other poker players.
Bramble Bay Bowls Club is now another venue on the growing list that sees the need to offer to the locals somewhere to play and meet new friends with similar passions.
I visited last thursday with Team All-In, the new venue and tournament now playing every thursday night. As any good sized bowls club, and this would be one of the larger ones in Brisbane, the food was fantastic offering a variety of meals including roast dinners. This venue has regular live entertainment, this week was, for the oldies, Brian Cadd.
The poker tournament was run by the Australian Pro Poker League. Registration is at 6:00pm and tournament start time is 7:00pm.
The club offers free membership to poker players giving them all the benefits and discounts that the club offers. There was $400.00 cash to be won in this tournament, and by 10:30pm the winner had been decided. Local player Queenie showed the field that she had what it takes to win the first APP tournament at Bramble Bay Bowls Club.
