The Box Hill Art Group's 64th annual exhibition will take place from 11 to 13 November 2016 at the Lower Box Hill Town Hall - 1022 Whitehorse Road, Box Hill. Entry for the opening on Friday is free, however a $5 entry fee applies over the weekend. Meet the artist, and why not grab the opportunity to buy an original work of art.
The opening and award presentations will be held on Friday the 11th at 8pm and opening hours for the weekend will be 10am to 5pm on the Saturday and 10am to 4pm on the Sunday. Paintings at the exhibition are for sale.
Guest speaker Helen Harris OAM will open the exhibition and give a talk at the opening ceremony. Judging will be by Clive Sinclair, a member of the Twenty Melbourne Painters and he was 2011's Vic. Arts. Artist of the Year.
A major exhibition for the year, members of the Whitehorse Arts Association will also exhibit at this event. Award categories are 'Best in Show', Oil/Acrylics, Watercolour, Pastel and the Ken Emmett Award.
The 'Best in Show', a single award, receives the Whitehorse City Council Prize which is monetary, along with a Certificate. All mediums attract the 1st and 2nd prize, and at the Judge's discretion, Highly Commended. 1st & 2nd prize winners receive a Certificate and a voucher from the sponsors for art materials or framing and the Highly commended artist receives a Certificate.
The Ken Emmett Award is a single 'Special Theme' Award to commemorate past President, Ken Emmett. The theme this year is 'Marvellous Melbourne'.
Established in 1952, The Box Hill Art Group has spawned many an artist and challenged the skills of the experienced.
