We started with a light entree which consisted of two adorable sliders of rarely seared tuna. I liked the thickly-cut tuna slices and they were served with pickled cucumber and guacamole. It was a delightful dish to have, however, I found this entree dish lacked that NY sophistication I was looking for.
The soft shell crab burger was something my friend eyed for a while. It was an impressive burger when it arrived. A whole deep fried soft shell crab in golden batter and the largish brioche bun could not tame the tempura crab legs.
When it was served, we laughed at the chef's creative interpretation of this dish. It looked more like a little ninja burger trying to defend itself from being devoured by us.
This tempura soft shell crab burger was definitely not for the faint-hearted. The battered soft shell crab rested comfortably inside of the soft sweet brioche bun. It was generously topped with crunchy Asian slaw and coriander. We could definitely see the Japanese influences and flavoring in this dish.
A bowl of miso mayonnaise was served by its side. The tangy miso tartare sauce complemented the soft shell crab well. However, it was messy to eat or dip, it would have been better to include the miso mayo inside the bun as my slaw salad fell everywhere and it was a bit unsightly.
