I'm a 26 year old male Senior Reporter for Weekend Notes. I Graduated from A Bachelor of Arts (Creative Writing and Communication) at UniSA in 2014. As well as writing for WN I have also done pieces for the Adelaide 36s and Mawson Lakes Living.
With Christmas only a couple months away hearts and minds are drifting to thoughts of their loved ones and the annual ritual of the giving of gifts. As easy as it is to hit up the mall and get something generic, as is expected, it is good to spice things up and get something with some flair and aesthetic. Where would you find such a prize though? There are a few stores that deal with items with some imagination, but they are generally few and far between. What if you wanted all these great local products in one place?
A market seems like an ideal solution to this and that's exactly what the Bowerbird Design Market aims to do. The biannual event is celebrating it's 10th anniversary and has put together a humdinger of an event to celebrate. 80 SA designers will join a total of over 200 designers from across the country to offer a treasure trove of goods from ceramics, jewellery, men and ladies' fashion, pottery, accessories, furniture, skincare and much more. Check out the directory which provides a full list of the designers on hand here.
Bowerbird has taken the next step in its offerings and has expanded to include creative workshops for both adults and children at this year's markets. Bowerbird will be running a number of their own workshops but have also teamed up with Jam Factory to offer even more arts and crafts. Food and drink are not exempt from the design culture either. Artisan foods and craft beverages will be available to further enhance the local variety atmosphere.
Bowerbird Design Market is being run from 1-3 of November. A splendid way to spend the weekend or wind down after work on a Friday. The market is running from 4pm-9pm on Friday and 10am-5pm Saturday and Sunday.
