The Bottom End Bar

Published April 30th 2012
In what would have to be the most versatile venue in the western side of the CBD, The Bottom End is a pub-disco-diner with one of the kitschiest decors in the city (my personal favourite is the framed and signed bald Britney picture).

The drinks menu ranges from having an awesome range of tequila and rum, to drinks that sound downright disgusting (Lagerita, anyone? Yes, it is exactly what it sounds like - Carlton Draught and tequila) but is overall quite fun. I imagine that most people trying the more adventurous drinks would need to be pretty drunk to muster up the necessary courage. And being pretty drunk would certainly justify you going up to the bar and ordering the Lindsay Lohan (which is actually a somewhat classy sounding mix of Patron Cafe, Grey Goose and a cinnamon sugar rim). The house wines are labelled by price, starting from "cheap".

And the menu? Well, I have no idea how you could look past the burgers and other mains. The selection is pretty impressive and it's always a dilemma in choosing between a number of amazing sounding burgers. Tweed Heads RSL Po Boy? Shane Warne Burger? Yes please! It's a good thing that they have $10 mains after 6pm on Thursday so that you can try out as many as you can, without blowing the budget. I do miss the soft shell crab burger that they had on the menu back in February but the surf-and-turf Tweed Heads RSL Po Boy is an adequate replacement.

RIP to the Soft Shell Crab Burger
