Located along Prospect Road in Prospect, Bottega Gelateria's Prospect branch offers gelato which is made using traditional techniques passed down from the home of gelato, Italy. No pre-packaged frozen or industrially prepared ingredients are used in the creation of their gelato.

Their gelato can be enjoyed either in a cup or cone. Their Salted Pecan and Maple Gelato was a winner at the Florence Gelato Festival. It features salted pecans swirled through gelato. The gelato was creamy and light, and the chunks of salted pecan were of a good size. They had a delectable nutty flavour with a hint of saltiness. Canadian maple syrup serves as a garnish, which complemented the pecans well.

Also available are ice cream cakes which can be ordered in one of three sizes - mini, small and large. Their Bombe Alaska features their award-winning Salted Pecan Gelato with extra crunch provided by crushed roasted pecans. The dulce de leche, a type of caramel sauce, was not too sweet and vanilla gelato serves as a foil to the other ingredients. The almond dacquoise base was not tough and the Italian meringue coating was nicely torched.

The other ice cream cake offered during our visit was the Tartufo. Both the Dutch chocolate gelato and dark chocolate ganache had a rich chocolatey flavour contrasted by hazelnut Piemonte gelato. Crushed roasted hazelnuts provided a contrast of texture and were not too hard. Finishing the cake was a dusting of cocoa powder.

This place had a modern feel with a decent amount of seating space for dine-in customers. If you are looking for a good place for gelato in Prospect, give Bottega Gelateria a visit.
