I like to participate in life rather than be a spectator. Music, dancing, theatre, travelling, food, cycling and walking are some of my passions. Writing is an enjoyable pastime that allows me to share my experiences.
Botero coffee roasters and cafe are located in a historic building in Maclean that was a 1940s mechanical workshop. Acquired in 2010 by the Botero company, extensive renovations saved it from the wrecker's hammer and created a warm and welcoming cafe and coffee roastery.
The espresso bar/cafe opens early to serve breakfasts and takeaway, closing in the early afternoon after the lunch service. The small menu is supplemented by daily blackboard specials and a cabinet full of paninis, salads, wraps and house-made treats. Gluten-free and vegetarian items are available and you can choose your coffee style from the signature blends available.
It is a comfortable relaxing space that has plenty of room both inside and out, the staff are friendly and very knowledgeable about their products. Botero Cafe is child-friendly with a fenced outdoor play area, Lego blocks and a menu with breakfasts for $8.50 and lunches for $10. Floor to ceiling glass provides a view of the roasting area and one can even shop for tea, coffee, homewares, accessories and merchandise online or in person.
