I love hiking, travel, photography, art, and looking for peaceful places in a busy cityscape. I'm also dabbling in some travel writing - https://tinamaleela.home.blog

FREE exhibition to delight garden and art lovers

"Floressence" is the annual exhibition of botanical art being organised by the Botanical Artists' Society of Queensland. It is an opportunity to view and purchase contemporary botanical art. With Christmas just around the corner, you may find "just the thing" for someone who has everything.

The exhibition will include work by Robyn Bauer, artist-in-residence, Brisbane Botanical Gardens, and Nicole Crosswell of the Queensland Herbarium's illustration projects. Aside from traditional art techniques, there will also be digital artwork which adds a new dimension to this specialist field.

Botanical art combines the love of gardens and the plant world with the precision of illustrating and painting. The graceful and delicate work may look effortless, but the proportions, colours and fine details require a lot of observation to master.

About the Society
The Botanical Artists' Society of Queensland is a voluntary, non-profit organisation formed to foster greater knowledge, love and understanding of botanical art.

It organises activities that promote this specialised art. There are regular garden days, classes and workshops, exhibitions, and "momentum days" which allow artists to learn from each through the exchange of techniques and ideas.
