You CAN make friends with salad
Located in Red Hill, Botanica Real Food provides inner city slickers with a fresh and healthy option for lunch. It's hard to find a takeaway cafe that is healthy- but Botanica is just that.
Using raw, fresh ingredients like kale, radish, orange, sweet corn, and cabbage to name a few, as well as heartier options like brown rice, couscous and potato salads, the salads made daily combine ingredients that complement each other, adding unexpected interest and flavour to the otherwise boring word 'salad'!
Botanica Real Food opens 6 days a week, Tues-Friday 9:00-6:00, Sat-Sun 9:00-5:30, offering take-away only, due to their site regulations. However this makes the whole experience fun, getting environmentally friendly wooden forks and a brown paper bag to go- perfect for a picnic in the park.
I got the medium sized $15 salad box selection, which serves between 2-4 people. Being able to mix and match different salads together means that you can try them all- perfect for the indecisive one's.. like me! The friendly staff are also happy to offer a word of advice when it comes to the tough choice of choosing which cake to take.
At $4 per cake, all are gluten free, and some vegan too, which really won me over. The quality, flavour and selection truly showed the love and time put into each; while I was there one of the staff was individually icing each cupcake - so sweet!
Bring Botanica to a Sunday BBQ or take it home for lunch and dinner, with gluten free and vegan options, to suit everyone's dietary needs. It seems to cover all bases- healthy, fresh, vegan and gluten free! It's not often these words all go in the same sentence together, but Botanica is bringing Real Food back on the scene in Brisbane.
