Satisfy your inner gardener and give yourself a hit of gorgeous greenery by visiting in Windsor, Brisbane.

While Autumn is generally considered the desirable season to plan and plant a Queensland garden, I decided it was the perfect time to visit to grow my treasured stock and get ready for the cooler days ahead.

Colwill Place
is a bespoke inner-city nursery, built in a farmhouse shed design. The nursery is very sneakily tucked behind the main row of boutique shops in Colwill Place - an art deco building on Albion Road, Windsor. So finding it feels like a bit of a surprise with a touch of a hidden secret.

Colwill Place was built by Arthur William Colwill. The site is a historically significant building in Windsor having been built in 1928-29 out of bricks from the demolished Centenary Hotel in Fortitude Valley.

As one of the grand dames of Windsor, Colwill Place has recently undergone a stylish transformation and facelift. Gone is the old school tattoo parlour and Opal Jewellery Museum, which have been replaced by ten specialty boutique shops, cafes and service centres including this bespoke inner-city nursery.

Simply follow the path behind Colwill Place and you will find the green wooden farm-style shed of .

The Product Range
's range includes a stock of ready to go hanging and potted plants, including sweet (easy to grow) succulents, ferns, palms and more. The nursery is compact and easy to walk through but has so much to notice.

Look out for:
Striking Hanging Baskets
All sizes of pots
Custom designed ceramics
Louise Jones hand-poured candles
Sleek Watering Cans

The Standout
While browsing plants is always fun, my favourite part about the visit was exploring the building itself. Be sure to look up at the ceiling of the nursery and you will see its open and aged exposed beams which definitely have a story to tell. If only the walls could talk. As well as a historical feature, they provide the perfect hanging point for classic wooden, carpentry ladders to display the baskets of sprawling rich foliage.

Along the side of the shed are what looks to be the original push out, cased windows seen in many Queensland style building. It's just another example of how the shed authentically embraces its age.

Hire Services
As well as selling its garden stock, adds a little something a little different. also offers a plant hire service for special events.

If you are looking for a unique space for a special event like a wedding, engagement or birthday party, it's handy to know that the venue itself is also available for hire

is open 7 days and situated at 12/180 Albion Road, Windsor QLD 4030, 3 kms from the CBD.

What Else
has a small carpark directly outside the shop. There are also more car spaces outside Colwill Place. The Windsor Nursery is a sister to the second Borrowed Nursery store in Mermaid Beach on the Gold Coast.

So, the next time you are looking for a gift for someone else (and remember Mother's Day is coming up) or a gift for yourself, consider a touch of green from .
