Over the past few months there has been a hive of activity as members of the local Boronia Salvation Army Corps worked tirelessly to bring to fruition their dream of their very own "opportunity shop". Today, the lst November, was the grand opening day, and the Boronia Thrift Shop has been born.
The plans of having their own Thrift Shop has been one that has been enthusiastically and energetically worked through. It is the belief of the Boronia Salvation Army that being a part of the community opens up new challenges and opportunities for the local people and their families and allows people to buy a bargain while at the same time to find and make new friendships.
The Thrift Shop will be open on the following days each week. Tuesday-Friday 10am-4:30pm and Saturday 10am-2pm. With clothing for men, women and children, childrens' books and toys, kitchen crockery and utensils, paintings and prints, and a whole lot more to choose from, a visit is a must for the discerning and needy buyer.
Volunteers and staff and friends were involved in the opening ceremony by Major Kelvin Merrett, Divisional leader, the Salvation Army, when a bright red ribbon was cut to officially open the Thrift Shop.
Families are most welcome to visit not only the Thrift Shop but also to all of the other community activities including Companion Club on Thursdays at 10.00 a.m. and Mainly Music for children and their parents/carers on Wednesdays at 10am (times).
The Boronia Salvation Army Thrift Shop is on the corner of Liverpool Road and Mountain Highway, Boronia. Melways Map 65, F6.
