Don't we all love a bargain and the Boronia Thrift Shop has plenty of them.

It has only been open for a short time and is part of the Salvation Army chain of charities.

Taking over a small house they have now housed the thrift store here.

It is a lovely little space filled with happy volunteers and some great items to share with you.

The day that I visited the volunteers explained to me that they really enjoyed working here because they felt it was such a nice little place to be and that they were assisting people in need.

Their prices are certainly very fair and not only do they have the usual range of secondhand items they had plenty of new items when I visited.

I found quite a lovely range of jewellery and watches and brand-new belts for men.

On one wall was a beautiful handmade quilt that took up half the wall it had obviously taken somebody a great deal of time to create and was now on sale for only $9.50.

There was a box of brand new men's business shirts still in their packets and priced at $29.95 on sale here for $3.99.

I accidentally walked through the kitchen and apologised for being in the private area, then I noticed as I looked into the pantry that everything in there had price tags on it, they laughed with me and said "No, no it is fine - everything here is available for sale and you're welcome to be anywhere you want to be".

In the pantry they had a range of cookware, Tupperware and glassware.

In the front room there was quite a good range of ladies clothing including shoes and handbags all very reasonable priced for just a few dollars.

Arriving in the entry foyer, I discovered somebody had donated a large basket filled with M&M beachtowels. They were brand-new still in their plastic bags and the type that you could fold inside on themselves to make into a shoulder bag to take to the beach and then spread out to use as a large towel. I thought these would be a great idea for the school holidays or for Christmas presents.

One of my children found quite a good selection of movies and DVDs so he has enough viewing pleasure for quite some time now.

One of the things that really appealled to me and made me feel at home was that the moment I walked through the door I was offered a free cup of tea with a genuine smile.

Certainly a slightly different and very lovely shopping experience.
