Eating here had me wanting to sign up for owner Chan Uoy's 14 day Cambodian culinary immersion tour in May! Aromatic and distinctive flavours, all of the main meals were crave worthy.
We were welcomed by the Manager, who was quite happy to chat even though busy with new staff onboard and a restaurant full of incoming guests. We learnt of the beginnings of Bopha Devi, giggled about botox, exchanged stories of career changes, and were tempted to sign up to a two-week cooking holiday!
Starting with a celebratory bubbly, we ordered chicken satay skewers, vegetable spring rolls, pumpkin parcels, and Sait-Gor Ang as entree. With little choice for gluten-free diets and the vegetarian options somewhat disappointing, I was initially not too eager to taste the mains. My dining companions assured me of the tasty and full of flavour skewers - cooked to moist and juicy perfection with a sensational dipping sauce.

For mains we ordered Saramann Prawns (taste test off my friend's - so good I will be returning to order this for myself next visit), Char Kroeurg (beef with vegetables served with either rice or noodles), and my selection, Amok fish (steamed fish served in a banana leaf bowl).
Mine, I would describe as a healthy comfort (if one can put those two words together) winter warmer meal, a serve large enough for three, with strong distinct and balanced flavours bursting with homemade goodness. A soupy curry, perfect to be soaked up with steamed rice. I was very happy and content and managed to finish every last bite!
Nods of approval from my dining companions whom all three were quietly eating their meals - a sure sign of contented satisfaction.

The evening had added delight with a surprise cocktail and dessert for the birthday girl - black rice with shaved coconut. A never before tried interesting combination of earthy grains accompanied with the subtle sweetness of coconut ice-cream - an adventure for the start of another year!

What I love about Bopha Devi Docklands - they do not rush you; accommodate to all requests (even charging my phone battery!); and best of all, are friendly and welcoming so that you feel as though you have dropped into your Aunt's house for dinner. Romantic lighting, for a romantic date or small group gathering, but also caters for larger parties.

With the number of people meandering through, do doubt this place has it's numerous local followers. With mains this good, this may have to be a regular haunt of mine too. I have been told we need to return to try the durian ice-cream.
If you want great food and great service, enjoyed in a cosy, relaxing, and welcoming atmosphere, head to Bopha Devi Docklands.
Thank you to staff @Bopha Devi! We had such a wonderful evening. Especially thank you for the surprise complimentary birthday cocktail and dessert - we will be back for the durian ice-cream soon!
