In 2023, the term 'booze bus' takes on a whole new meaning.

We don't pretend to have all the answers here at Weekend Notes, but there is one question that we can answer - why schlep all the way out to a bar when you can make the bar schlep to you?

True Spirit Bus


The True Spirit Bus is a 1974 Atlantean double-decker bus that was re-purposed as a travelling bar by the craftsman of the Brisbane Gin Distillery. The quirky mobile bar offers contains a downstairs section with booth seats, an upstairs platform with a pop-up roof, and a self-contained bar.

The True Spirit Bus slings gin every Sunday at the Riverside Markets in the City Botanic Gardens. Gin aficionados and newbies alike are encouraged to explore the spirit, with free tastings, sample paddles, and cocktails available.

Lobster Social


Simple yet luxurious appears to be the brief from Lobster Social, who serve a single menu item from a sleek silver caravan.

Their core menu contains a lobster roll with fennel slaw and cumquat served on a caramelised brioche bun and a side serving of parmesan truffle fries. The drinks menu is also carefully curated - there's champagne, of course, as well as lager, lemon squash, and your choice of still or sparkling water.

Margarita Margarita


Meet Stanley, a vintage 1972 Commer Highwayman Van and mobile margarita bar.

Margarita Margarita - the bar so nice they named it twice - is an event hire company that serves up margaritas made from fresh fruit quality ingredients. Their private event package is all exclusive and provides an unlimited number of margaritas for the duration of the booking.

Caravan Bar


Is the term 'BYO bar' an oxymoron? While the previous entries on this list have focused on a particular type of alcohol - gin, champagne, margaritas - Caravan Bar doesn't actually provide any. Instead, they provide a chic caravan bar and service staff while you, the party host, provide the booze.

The company that runs Caravan Bar can also provide additional extras to your function, such as giant lawn games, sweet treats, and espresso.
