A heartfelt collection of short romance stories set in Rockingham will be launched at the Rockingham Book Fair on November 20.
The
Rocky Romance anthology is the brainchild of Karen Mc Dermott from local boutique publisher Serenity Press.
The collection showcases the work of six authors from Rockingham, Kwinana and Mandurah:
Monique Hall ,
Monique Mulligan ,
Teena Raffa ,
Louisa Loder ,
Karen Weaver and
Mike Murphy .
"Rocky Romance came to be through an inspired moment walking along the beach at the Rockingham foreshore. The setting is stunning, one of tranquillity and harmony - a perfect place to find love," McDermott said."Each story is based on a loving connection and set in or around the beautiful coastal area of Rockingham."The collection includes heartfelt stories of healing and simply not wanting to be lonely, as well as temptation, the butterflies of early love, and, of course, the inevitable romantic conflict."The stories explore romance as a possibility and as a 'happy ever after', giving readers a variety of warm, touching and funny moments to ponder."
Readers familiar with the area will recognise familiar landmarks such as Point Peron, Penguin Island, the rotunda and the Rockingham foreshore. Characters protest with the Hands Off Point Peron group, skydive onto Rockingham beach, paddle board, cycle around the coastal paths, and there's even a speed dating story with a twist.
Rocky Romance will be launched at the Rockingham Book Fair at the Rockingham Arts Centre. One hundred copies of the book will be signed by all six authors, with a signing session taking place on November 20 at 5pm at the arts centre.
The book costs $21.99 for a paperback and can be pre-ordered via the Serenity Press
website . It will also be available at the book fair, and from selected outlets after the launch. It's also available from
Amazon Australia for $3.99 if you have an e-reader.
The Rockingham Book Fair runs from 6pm to 9pm on November 20, and 9am to 5pm on November 20 and 21 and includes author talks, signings, readings and sales. The event will be launched by author Anna Jacobs.
Rockingham Arts Centre is at 11 Kent Street, Rockingham.
