Hinterland Horse Riding Fun
If you have a horse riding enthusiast in the family or someone who just wants to give it a try, then head on over to the Bonogin Valley Horse Retreat. Set in the tranquil, scenic hinterland of the Gold Coast, it is still only a 15 minute drive from Robina Town centre. The slope from the roadway down to the centre is quite steep so take it slowly.
We booked a horse riding session for three excited kids and were pleased to note that safety is a high priority with the centre. Guidelines for appropriate attire were given when booking the riding session and the Australia standard helmets are mandatory. While completing and signing the required forms, we were encouraged and kept company by a local.

The horses were saddled up, and everyone headed off to the sand arena. There is a viewing area or 'Chill Out Zone' for parents and others to watch the lesson. The kids were given quality, professional training and thoroughly enjoyed the one hour-plus-some session. The time went too quickly and they are more than eager to return.
The Horse Retreat offers riding lessons, trail rides, riding clubs and even a horse connection and day spa experience. Prices range from $50 for group lessons to $165 for 5 hour trail ride 'Creek to Café'.
The Bonogin Valley Horse Retreat is also offering Horse Care courses for $15 during the school holidays as part of the Gold Coast City Council holiday activities for kids 8 years and older. Learn how to handle a horse, grooming, stable/paddock cleaning, first aid, feeding and keeping a horse and handling safety. Various dates are available but bookings are required.
Horse aerobics' to build core strength and balance on the ground and horseback, and 'horse connection' for beginners or those needing a little confidence is also offered during the holidays. Again, bookings are required.
And, if you're searching for that special gift for someone, a gift voucher from Bonogin Valley Horse Retreat may just be your answer.
