Take the chill out of winter and spend time at Bondi
Bondi Beach is once again set to sparkle this winter with its ice rink, festival of art, music on the street, beach camel rides, United Nations World Yoga Day and history walking tours!
Bondi Winter Magic is a six-week festival that runs from Sunday the 19th of June and concludes on Sunday the 31st of July.

This magnificent festival brings together artists, musicians and yoga lovers for a magical winter spectacle, all set alongside Australia's only beachside ice rink. Bondi Winter Magic is a joint initiative of Waverley Council and the Bondi and Districts Chamber of Commerce.
For the first time ever this year, camel rides will also be held on Bondi Beach on weekends from the 19th of June and offer residents and visitors alike a rare experience to enjoy the view from a completely different perspective. Be the first to experience the thrill of the ships of the desert over the iconic sands of Bondi.

Also starting on the 19th of June will be the United Nations World Yoga Day where you can discover the many benefits of yoga and join the worldwide celebrations at Bondi Beach and Bondi Pavilion. The day will start with an Aboriginal Welcome to Country and ceremony followed by a community Salute to the Sun, where you are invited to join a free yoga class on the iconic sands of Bondi Beach as the sun rises over the ocean.

Then you could head to the Bondi Pavilion afterwards for the full day event featuring a variety of yoga classes, meditation, panel talks, acro yoga, cultural music and dance, as well as family friendly kids' yoga and activities. Explore the colourful marketplace where you can browse yoga related products, get a bite to eat and enjoy the relaxed atmosphere and friendly vibe.

The Bondi ice rink is back again and will run for two weeks from the 1st to the 17th of July. This is a much-loved highlight of Sydney in winter, the ice rink is the largest outdoor beachside ice rink in the Southern Hemisphere.

With dimensions 30mx35m, the rink provides room for beginners and experienced skaters alike. With the crowds gone and the winter sun setting across the bay, don't miss the rare chance to glide across an ice rink in this visually spectacular setting alongside Australia's most iconic beachfront.
When: Skating sessions start on the hour and each skating session is 45 mins. Skating Lessons Monday to Friday at 9am-10am (arrive by 8.45am)

Spectacular ice shows by Stars On Ice skating champions every Saturday and Sunday at 5.45pm and 6.45.pm.
Art on the Street provides the opportunity for emerging artists to exhibit their work outdoors in Bondi's Roscoe Street Mall.

Visitors will have the chance to pick up original pieces from over 30 artists and photographers for as little as $30. Visitors will be encouraged to contribute their own artistry on the day by filling the surrounding streets with chalk art.

Music on the Street will run for most of the day on Sunday the 31st of July. You can cruise, jive or tap-dance around Bondi to the sound of buskers of every genre, on every street corner, doorway and lane playing their hearts out for charity.

Bondi History Walks are held on Sundays throughout July as part of the Bondi Winter Magic program. You will be able to discover Bondi's bohemian past on these fascinating guided walking tours around the hidden gems of Bondi Beach. Led by local historian Sophia Smiley and 'Mr Bondi' himself, long-term resident Lawrie Williams, the walks are guaranteed to intrigue and delight. Meet up at 9:45am for a 10am start. The walks are approximately 2 hours long.

Waverley Mayor Sally Betts said the festival was one of Waverley's most popular initiatives. "It is further proof that Bondi is fast becoming one of Sydney's much-loved winter, as well as summer, destinations," she said. "We look forward to welcoming lovers of art, music and ice skating back to Bondi. And of course the school holidays coincide with the festival so we hope to see many families."
Bondi Beach's iconic ocean views will be the backdrop to a spectacular festival of art, music, ice-skating and beach camel rides this winter as Australia's favourite beachside suburb transforms into a winter playground.
As well as enjoying the highlights of the festival, visitors can take the opportunity to discover Bondi's many hidden treasures including a wealth of "special offers" from local cafes, restaurants and bars.
