If you fancy fish and chips at Bondi Beach, then at 128 Campbell Parade is probably the best place you will find in terms of overall value for money. The quality of the fish and chips is probably at least as good here as it is in more expensive places, such as those in the Bondi Pavilion area, not that that is saying much. There is a vast range of different types of fish and seafood creatures to choose from and it looks quite fresh and is cooked properly. The chips are probably above average for Australian standards but are not made from freshly cut potatoes. Most Australians have probably never tasted fresh chips so they can get away with this, as no one knows any different.
The
website lists just about every seafood-related product under the sun with its price, except oddly for basic fish and chips, which is nowhere to be seen. However, I can reveal that the standard fish and chips is $15.50, which believe it or not is cheap by Bondi Beach standards. However, depending on whether you wish to have a specific variety of fish you may get charged either more or less than this, such as the swordfish or tuna and chips for $13.90 or salmon and chips for $18.90 and barramundi and chips for $20.90.
There is also a bizarre lunch special for 2 people of 2 fish and 1 chips for $29.50, so one will have to go without chips or you can have half each.
If you buy your fish and chips here, it's just a matter of crossing Campbell Parade to get to Bondi Beach Park and then the beach, where you can sit and defend yourself from seagulls whilst enjoying your fish and chips, in the knowledge that you have not been ripped off like the unknowing people who went to the places at Bondi Pavilion.
