I don't skate at all. But that makes watching all the more impressive. The old skate ramp at Bondi beach was lacking in excitement. Since the renovation, it's not just benefited skaters. It's excited onlookers and attracted big competitions with high profile competitors. Along with the annual BOWL-A-RAMA competition, it's a great place to check out when there's some talent on show. The best thing of all, it's totally free.

With a variety of ramps, grinds and drops, the biggest feature of the park is the giant bowl. Bigger than your average backyard swimming pool, it gives experienced players the chance to really show off with some dangerously big air. It's a local hang out for many of the Eastern Suburbs kids and it's virtually never empty. There's lots of great places to watch from, so if you have one, bring your camera or have your iPhone at the ready!

If for nothing else, the Skate Park is just another great place to view the beach from. In the background, a calm inspiring ocean. In the foreground, the distraction of adrenalin seeking skaters. I can think of worse. If you're thinking of giving skating a go, I'd say stay out of the bowl until you're quite confident. Not only does it require some skill, there's usually a fair few people watching. Luckily the other side of the park is separated from the main attraction.
