One of the best of Sydney's many cultural events in on November 28th at Bondi Beach. The Bondi Pavillion, which sits smack bang in the middle of the beach in pride of place, showcases 15 fantastic short films over the course of one day for the . The festival is a fantastic event and entertaining to boot! There is a matinee and evening session so everyone should find a time to suit.

The pavilion houses an outdoor amphitheatre which transforms into an outdoor cinema for the period. This year the festival had over 190 entrants vying for a spot amongst the finalists making this the biggest year yet for the festival which began in 2000. But get in quick to secure your tickets. The festival tends to sell out every year and this year should be no exception.

The idea behind the is to allow a wide selection of films to compete against one another with none of the traditional restrictions that govern many of Australia's festivals. The Festival accepts entries in any genre, with the only restrictions being it must be Australian and under 15 minutes in length. The festival is widely regarded as a bona fide vehicle for luanching many Australian film making careers.

Francis Coady, the festival's director, says the festival's principal aim is to support and foster young, independent minds by providing the opportunity to screen their vision to a discerning audience. As such the festival accepts a broad spectrum of films, documentaries, dramas, comedies and animations.

A testament to the prestige and kudos that now attached to the festival is the calibre of judges it attracts. Former judges include Sam Worthington and this years the judges include actor, writer and director Rachel Ward, actor Damon Gameau, writer/director David Caesar and actor, writer and director Gracie Otto.
