Bondi Festival is jam-packed with some fantastic events celebrating local artists, immersive performances and more. This year sees new ideas and entertainment emerge across three weeks of cultural bonanza from 1-17 July 2022. Tickets are limited this year and it's in your best interest to get in early if you don't want to miss out.
The festival also has its freebies - something for nothing, with Sparky the Library Van popping up at Bondi Beach over two weekends. There's an array of free activities or chill with a book while taking a break from the ice-skating session. Another free event, the Hall Street Jazz Café featuring Lady King. A rising soul/RnB artist, think Amy Winehouse, D'Angelo and Sade as Lady King delivers unrelenting grooves to feed your weary souls and get your feet moving. Ben Fink Trio keeps it interesting as they cross many styles including gypsy, jazz, folk and pop, playing a mix of covers and originals. All three of these events don't require tickets and are free to attend.
If it's laughter you're after, and who isn't! - You have @AbuSalim - a wild, gender-bending comedy mash-up created by Randa Sayed; Lyre: A Theatrical Séance - it takes place at a hidden location, far from the safety of a theatre. It's equal parts terrifying, hilarious and ridiculous. It's a magic show that'll ask you to confront some ghosts; I Liked It, But... - grab a drink, enjoy some tunes with Joel and local musos for a Pub Trivia Night about the craziest, weirdest, and most confusing stuff; Cool Pool Party 2: The Second - is an unnerving, side-splitting and catastrophic jaunt, fresh from the unique 'ban Shakespeare' universe.
In Onstage Dating - Bron Batten is going on first dates, live on stage! Watch from the safety of your seat or volunteer to be part of the action as Bron takes modern romance to the next level, right before your eyes. On that note, the festival is giving away a double pass to Onstage Dating. Just jump onto Instagram and follow the steps given to be in it to win it eg. 'like' the post, 'tag' a mate/date, 'both' must be following @bondifest, and comment which show/s you are most excited to see for an extra entry.
