Walking along the Bondi promenade makes for an interesting sight, as you have the beautiful white sand and blue surf on one side, and a mural wall on the other. The latter gives Bondi a more cultural, hip and contemporary vibe to the place. The art that goes on the wall is managed by the Waverly Council. Artists can submit their applications to paint one section of the wall and their murals stay on the wall for a minimum of 6 months before new projects commence. The guidelines are clear in helping artists bring out the history and character of Bondi.
If you have not noticed the mural wall during your previous visits to Bondi, the next time you're there, take a stroll along the promenade starting from the skate park and you'll easily spot the vibrant walls that make Bondi Beach so much more special. If you're lucky, you can even spot an artist at work, painstakingly creating a new mural for visitors to enjoy.
