The annual Bondi Barefoot soft sand run, now in its twelfth year, will be held at Bondi Beach on Sunday May 24th.
Run by North Bondi Surf Life Saving Club, the day kicks off at 9am and includes three races (10km, 4km and the Barefoot). The 10km run attracts many elite athletes, while the 4km is a great challenge for the novice. The Barefoot Bolt, held after the other races finish, is a fast paced knock-out sprint that sends sand flying, hearts racing and spectators cheering.
Even if you're not competing, it's a great reason to head down to Bondi Beach this Sunday to soak up the atmosphere and marvel at the competitors who make soft sand running look like a walk in the park.
Bring your towel for a quick dip afterwards, or amble up Hall Street to enjoy one of the many eateries (including bill's, Pasticceria Papa and local favourite Cafe Gusto) for breakfast, brunch or lunch.
