The Yarra Sculpture Gallery (YSG) has been exhibiting contemporary sculpture for almost 2 decades. Located at 117 Vere St Abbotsford, it is tucked away from the hustle and bustle of Hoddle St.
YSG is an artist run initiative, run by the committee members of the Contemporary Sculptors Association.
Today I was fortunate to meet 3 artists who are exhibiting at the 2016 end of year BONANZA group exhibition. Anna Prifti the gallery manager, proudly presented her work "I form Light and create darkness". Paul Gorman's work " Home Turn : Hair Chair" is among one of my favourites. The delicate work of Helen Braun, "Untitled" is beautifully presented on glass rods and mimics nature and a winter wonderland.
BONANZA 2016 is an annual group exhibition where members showcase their latest works. Co-ordinated by Jackie Ralph, the show opens on Saturday the 10th December and will run up until Sunday the 18th of December. The works on display explore a range of mediums and objects, from installation to projections and recycled objects, and include artists' personal journeys of self discovery and responses to climate change and biodiversity.
BONANZA 2016 will announce the winners at this Saturday's opening between 3 and 5pm.
