One of Australian rock music's most formidable and high-voltage vocalists, Bon Scott, will be honoured in the touring show titled "Bon But Not Forgotten" to coincide with what would have been Bon's 77th birthday.

Who is Bon Scott?
The Australian rock music landscape changed in the 1970s when Scottish-born and Aussie-raised singer Ronald "Bonney" Scott burst onto the music scene as the lead singer of AC/DC. While rebellious, and wild are just some of the adjectives used to describe Bon, there is no denying his unique talent and style.

For decades we have sung along to the songs for which he provided the vocals which became rock n roll anthems like Dirty Deeds, It's A Long Way To The Top, Highway to Hell and more.

Sadly, in a life of excesses that was cut way too short, Bon Scott died in London in 1980, aged just 33 from "acute alcohol poisoning" after a night of partying. His death was classified as "death by misadventure." AC/DC continued to create massive hits and sold-out shows around the world with new lead singer, Brian Johnson, but for many, it is Bon who will be forever the most memorable vocalist of the band.

Experiencing the music of Bon Scott today
Now on what would have been his 77th birthday, you can join in the rock chorus again as a supergroup of Australian artists has come together to create the show Bon But Not Forgotten to honour the musical footprint of Bon Scott.

I asked bass player and forming member, James Morley about the tour and the legacy which Bon Scott has left behind.

How challenging is it to sing Bon's vocals and play the set given his unique and recognisable sound?

Bon actually has quite a high register. To carry those notes for 90 minutes isn't as easy as it sounds, but adrenaline and a shot of whiskey, of course, help a little. But the unique tone is something that's just Bon's. You can't emulate the sound as such, but you can deliver it with passion, which is paramount.

What have you come to appreciate about Bon even more since playing in Bon But Not Forgotten?

His mastery of lyrics. The double entendres are very funny and clever, but they also relate in some way to everyone. He tells a story that's similar to what most of us have experienced at some time. He's the working-class poet.

What do you think has been Bon's legacy on Australian and world music and how do you hope to honour that legacy through the show?

%%We love what we do, and it's executed with the utmost respect and love for Bon and AC/DC. The legacy? That speaks for itself. Millions of fans are a testament to what the band has meant to so many and the influence on many musicians, including some of the world's best and most famous.

It's unique, it's raw, it's totally selfless in a musical way, and people are drawn to that the world over. The lack of pretence is not common these days, and that in itself resonates with a cross-generational legion of fans.

Long live Bon ! %%
