As the name suggests, there is something about the dish which is connected to both the "Press" and Bombay (aka Mumbai now). You may have guessed it by now ... it's Bombay sandwiches. So, what is so different about these sandwiches? Sandwiches are sandwiches ... right?

For those who aren't yet acquainted with these sandwiches, the veg grilled sandwich is a favourite on the streets of Mumbai - often filled with potato, onion, tomato, cheese, coriander chutney and plenty of masala. Bombay Press brings together two childhood friends, local to Melbourne, who are ambitiously serving their Bombay sandwiches to the city's foodies out of a shared kitchen in South Melbourne.

A morning at Bombay Press can't start without chai. To warm my bones on the go, I got a cup of their Masala Chai. It's a combination of brewed milk tea with a home blend of freshly ground spices, which was amazing.

Then, up next was their entire menu of sandwiches. Yes finally ... "Fresh off the Press". These are double-decker sandwiches (grilled sandwiches) that are made with a speciality coriander chutney and layered with veggies, cottage cheese (Paneer) and loads of quality cheddar cheese, then grilled with butter to perfection for that crunchy, yet soft taste. Please refer below for their menu, which explains their sandwiches to the tee.

Where "Taste Is King" meets "My Body Is My Temple"! Delicious vegan and vegetarian food that's fresh and healthy. They pride themselves on making everything from scratch, using just fresh vegetables and bread for their sandwiches.

My overall review for this place: Delicious food served beautifully by the ever-so-friendly and helpful owners. It was wonderful to see the place taking extra care and caution during these times for take away.

I like that they haven't compromised on the taste in their quest to appeal to different palates and are staying true to their roots. Go grab yours now. It is simple to order - head to their Instagram - @bombay_press and message them to order. Do not forget to follow them.

I think this was my best Indian food experience outside of the sub-continent. It just took me on a nostalgic trip to Mumbai, where I grew up.

Perfect place to eat if you're looking for a healthy vegan or vegetarian sandwich that still makes your taste buds rejoice.
