If you head down to the Visayan region of the Philippines, you'll find a cluster of a few of my favourite islands in the Philippines; namely Cebu, Bohol and Negros Oriental.

I went on my first tour of Bohol a couple of weeks ago and one of the most memorable parts of the trip was going on the Loboc River Cruise. Known as one of the main tourist attractions of the island, after my experience there I can see why it's so popular.

Departing the main dock where a group of river cruises operate, you are greeted by colourful floating restaurants. There are a few boats to choose from but they are all quite similar just differing slightly in menus.

Tickets include a buffet lunch, live band entertainment and a couple of surprises along the way.

There are other ways to see the river, you can also hire a small bangka or outrigger boat, but I really enjoyed seeing the river this way. It's also a great opportunity to introduce yourself to the local culture. You get to try Filipino foods and watch some cultural dances on the river stops along the way.

The Loboc River Cruises operates all year-round weather permitting and tickets cost around PHP300/AUD$7 per person. I'd definitely recommended it to anyone thinking of going to Bohol or a beautiful island in the Philippines.
