With Chinese New Year coming up yum cha is in demand. But this is yum cha like you have never had before.

Bodhi's Restaurant is the ultimate dining experience for the vegetarian in you. Not only the vegetarians but the carnivores will love the creativity and uniqueness.

Traditionally, yum cha derives from the Cantonese word ban ming, which is a Chinese style morning or afternoon tea focused on drinking tea and eating dim sum dishes. Today, Western cultures have adopted yum cha and it has evolved into a unique dining experience with many small dishes transported around the room on trolleys by pleasant waitresses.

Bodhi's has taken it one step further by introducing a creative flair to the humble yum cha with a completely vegetarian menu. Situated underneath St Mary's Cathedral in Sydney's CBD, Bodhi's is hidden between the crypt of St Mary's, The Cook and Phillip Aquatic Centre, and the ancient trees in the park. Fairy lights sparkle in the trees and the attentive staff give you warm blankets if you are seated outside.

The food is all faux; faux chicken, faux beef, faux pork and faux duck. Using real soy instead of real animals the dishes are daintily and delicately prepared. Full of colour and style this yum cha serves everything you would devour at a regular Chinese yum - faux pork buns, faux rice noodles, faux dim sims, and faux spring rolls.

Teamed with steaming green tea and finished off with sugary lemon filled doughnut balls and freshly cut seasonal fruit, the dishes look so exciting you end up ordering a lot more than you can possibly eat and of course the bill is also a lot more than you expect. But it is all worth it as you leave feeling very satisfied and spoilt.
