One such place is here in Oxley, Brisbane. You will have to look for it as it hides in the Oxley Tavern on Blunder Road.

Bob's Cafe is a constant source of good tasting food that you can count on every time you go in and Bob's serves pub food but with a twist. Some of it you may not even have heard of.



Poutine is one such dish. It was created in Quebec, Canada, where comfort food is a big deal, especially in the winter. Poutine is comprised of chips (French fries) that comes topped with gravy and usually has cheese curds to go with it. Here in Australia though, cheese curds have been illegal until recently because they are not pasteurized. So Bob's serves his poutine with grilled pieces of cheese and it does not disappoint.



This is a delicious but heavy meal, so you may want to share it with a friend or order it by itself. You can then go back another time and order some of the other things like the Aussie pie, hot dogs, Greek gyros or Spanish churros.

Their chicken parma is a nice size, not gigantic but perfectly proportioned and the crispy coating is light and crunchy and works with the cheesy topping. The Caesar salad is crispy and fresh. Bob's does burgers to perfection, and if you are in a rush you can get your meal to take away, always a bonus. Make sure you also check out the daily specials.



The bar itself is decked out nicely with sports paraphernalia, with tables for many or tables for two. You may want to bring a close friend to have a chat or you can gather on a Friday for the big game.

Wednesday is Trivia night so you can test your brain power. Bring a group and challenge each other.



Depending on the time of year Australian Women's softball, ice hockey, racing or maybe even the next Origin game could be showing when you arrive, if you are up for it.



The Oxley Tavern has been revamped over the years and sports a modern appearance. With cool lighting, bar tables, as well as seating in the outdoor area that has significant space if you want to host a meeting for your group. Even the bathrooms were given a face lift.
