The name Bobo, which stands for 'bohemian bourgeoisie', is a place to find that something special that will stand out in a crowd. Due to very small runs of each item – only about six of each – you are sure to find something exclusive, but without the price tag to match.
The launch of Bobo was prompted when the owner, Juliet Whittles, identified that there were not many stores in Adelaide which catered for the stylish dresser who is after practical, everyday wear which is still affordable. She noticed that the market tended to be dominated by sophisticated, expensive and up market stores on the one end and inexpensive, mass produced outlets on the other, with not much in the middle.
Said Juliet, "There was not much for those that pay attention to what they wear and how they look or who want to project their own individual style. I also noticed that friends of mine were going to Melbourne or even overseas to shop for clothes. I decided there was an opportunity to bring some unique items to Adelaide." Aimed at the over-forty age bracket, Bobo has enough variety in store to ensure there is something for everyone. It includes a range of great value costume jewellery and leather handbags. Silk Shirts with embroidery detail, winter coats, jumpers and skirts are all in the mix, including a special dress for the races and some of the owner's own designs.
Juliet recognises that clothes have to be versatile and will work with customers to help them choose items that go together. She will take one item of clothing, team it with a few different pieces and make three great outfits which can be worn to work, out at night or for casual dressing on the weekend.
So, set aside the time and spend a while in Bobo to find your special number.
