Fun on wheels
Volunteers from the Rotary Clubs of Kuringai, St Ives, Turramurra and Wahroonga have once again organised the Bobbin Head Cycle Classic, a charity event, which is affectionately called the Bobbo. This is not a race but a community ride for bike enthusiasts and recreational riders. So, there is no pressure to win. You have the opportunity to fundraise (not mandatory), with ample support from the organisers.
There are four rides planned, catering to all levels of cyclists and fitness: 27km, 57km, 80km & 140km. Cash prizes will be awarded to the King, Queen & Team of the Mountain in the 80km & 140km categories. The start times, age limits, registration process, parking and other information can be found on their website here.
All rides kick off from Karuah Oval, Turramurra, onward to Hornsby, Mt Colah through Kuringai Chase National Park, Bobbin Head, St Ives and to Terrey Hills. The 104 km ride carries on further to West Head and Pittwater, returning to Turramurra via Akuna Bay.
Here's an opportunity for you to go along with your family or bunch of friends to take in breathtaking spectacular views and discover the Sydney that you did not know existed. This could also be a good team-building exercise for companies, cycling groups etc.
At the end of the races, Karuah Oval will come to life with music. Food and drink stalls will be set up as well as cycling exhibitions. What a way to finish off the day. This event will raise funds for charities such as Lifeline, KYDS, Bo Children's Hospital, Eagle's RAP, Hornsby Kuringai Women's Shelter etc.
