Life is about the journey - some roads are not always what they seem but you sure learn a great deal from them!
Published January 8th 2014
Many of us take our cars for granted. We assume that everything will be fine every time we drive them. However, there are many things outside of our control which can greatly impact our travels. For starters, one would assume that if you purchase a new car that you would have all the tools needed in case you have a flat. You might also think that you won't get a flat because it is a new car.

A road to somewhere
A Road to Somewhere

I was travelling in an area which I would call "the middle of nowhere". Of course, I was en route to somewhere, and as my car was newish and had recently been in for a service, I assumed that nothing could go wrong. Of course, because I was in the "middle of nowhere" I had to pull to the side of the road to ensure I was en route to somewhere by checking the GPS application on my iPad. You could say I was lost, which is a common occurrence for me and one I somehow don't mind at all. I enjoy travelling, and getting lost just adds a little more adventure to your travels.

Of course, today was the day that I was travelling alone, and as luck would have it I managed to roll off the only bolt on the side of the road. I knew immediately, as I pulled away, that there was something wrong with my wheel. And for the next 15 km I was in a mild form of panic as the thoughts of changing a tyre started to enter into my problem solving mind-set.

I anxiously looked for a tyre place, because I had reached somewhere and there was civilization around me. There were no mechanics on this road. I quickly did a search for a tyre business in the area and was directed to one within 5 minutes of where I was.

A Knight in Shining Armour to rescue a damsel in distress

The tyre business that provided my "knights in shining armour" was Bob Jane T-Mart in Rockingham. From past experience I knew that you needed to make a booking to change your tyres. However, what do you do when you are stranded and need immediate help?

Taking charge and finding a solution to a terrible tyre problem

The men at the Bob Jane T- Mart were very helpful. They took charge of the situation quickly. You would expect many businesses to give you the worst run down, and I was anticipating that I would need to replace all four tyres that had just been replaced a few months earlier. Of course, I was in another form of panic because I was calculating what these damages would cost and whether my dwindling bank account would have enough funds to cover 4 new tyres.

To my relief, the staff at Bob Jane T- Mart said that there was a bolt and that they could easily repair the problem. The total cost would be $60 which I was so relieved about and very happy to pay. I had been bracing myself for a bill of $500 and was in the process of trying to sort out ways to pay this amount of money.
