The colonial style of the multi-storey Regatta Hotel is a well-known landmark in Brisbane, for over 140 years. The Regatta Hotel has a bevvy of award-winning bar and dining options, that will suit most occasions. We had a group booking at The Boatshed Restaurant, a modern extension of the Regatta Hotel, and were in for a hearty fine dining experience. I am of course a flexitarian (a flexible vegetarian) and for this particular evening, I chose to be flexi.
The Boatshed Restaurant's interior design with oaky feels makes for an ambience of relaxed sophistication. Depending on the table seating arrangement, you may be facing the large bay windows with sweeping views of the Brisbane River or you may be facing the cosy flickers of fire coming from a two-metre flame grill. You may want a river view for a corporate event. Just kidding.
Our table ordered seafood share plates for entree, followed by steaks for mains. The restaurant's signature steak cuts were divine, with a choice of toppers and dressing. There is even a low-calorie option of red wine jus for steak dressing. Being on a forever diet, I ordered a coffee whilst admiring the sweets ordered for the table from the dessert menu.
Later we paid the bill, prices were mid-range (approx. $65 pp) and enquired about City Cat Ferries from the Regatta Wharf Ferry terminal which were located across the road from the Regatta Hotel, should we want to catch a City Cat ferry to Southbank.
