Father's Day Event at Newstead House
Are you wondering where to take Dad for Father's Day? Look no further with the "Boaters & Beers" Father's day celebrations at Newstead House on Sunday 6 September 2015 between 10am Ė 4pm.
Newstead House have managed to bring a few of their friends from the neighbourhood together to create a fun, relaxed and family friendly day just for dad. Enjoy a cool brew from Newstead Brewing Company, smooth jazz from JMI, or maybe a brew by MERLO Ė coffee that is! A treat for Dad will be the special performance by Barbershop Quartet BLINDSIDE who were the 2014 Pan Pacific Youth Barbershop Quartet Champions.
Families can bring a picnic or savour the flavour's from some of Brisbane's most popular food trucks including The Bone Lorry, Juan More Taco and Ruby the Little Red Ice cream Van. Heritage games on the green and the opportunity to discover Brisbane's oldest surviving residence make Boaters & Beers a must do.
Why Boaters? In the late 19th Century and early 20th century boaters were a popular casual summer headgear, especially for boating or sailing. During the second half of the nineteenth century the boater gradually established itself as an item of leisure wear for both men and women and was mostly worn during informal occasions. As Brisbane's oldest surviving residence it makes perfect sense to bring a bit of style & tradition back to the grounds of Newstead House. Families can also bring a picnic in to the ground of beautiful Newstead Park.
Spring is here, Boaters are back, so grab Dad, your boater and head down to the historic Newstead House set in the stunning grounds of Newstead Park! Prizes for best dressed and raffles throughout the day.
