The perfect day out for families
One of the most popular spots with locals and tourists alike is Boambee Creek Reserve. It's the perfect spot for a picnic, day out, BBQ with family, kid's birthday party or just a good old coffee with a view.
The reserve includes a café ('Boambee Creek Kiosk'), two main grassy areas which are shaded by large trees, a large children's playground, undercover barbeque areas and access to the picturesque Boambee Creek. Throughout the reserve, there are plenty of picnic tables available. The cafe is open from 7am daily and includes typical takeaway style food (burgers, hot chips, coffees, milkshakes, ice creams and more).
Entry to the park is via the driveway off Sawtell Road, where there is a $5 entrance fee per vehicle (coins only). However, pedestrian entry is free - there is a path beside the driveway entrance, as well as access via Boambee Bay Resort (located behind the reserve).
Bring blow up floating toys, kayaks and stand up paddleboards for the water, and backyard cricket and balls for the grassy areas. There are kayaks and paddleboards available for hire on weekends and holiday periods.
There are two amenity blocks as well as an outdoor shower near the cafe.
There are seven shelters with barbeques available. Two are free to use and the others are available for hire. These spots are taken quickly on weekends and school holidays, so it's best to get in early.
A playground to keep kids entertained when the water is too cold to swim in!
Next time you need a morning, afternoon, or day out with the family (grandparents included), head on down to Boambee Creek Reserve. You won't be disappointed.
