This book review is (unfortunately) called Unicorse. When I saw that they had released a hardback picture book of Unicorse, I gasped and threw it in my shopping cart. Unicorse is one of my favourite episodes of Bluey. The picture book is 32-pages long and was published by Puffin Books on 6 June 2023.

The book begins with Bluey sneaking out of her room at bedtime and coming downstairs to catch her parents discussing what to watch on TV. She demands to know why she must go to bed and can't stay up late and watch TV with them. Chilli tells her she will read her one last story and then she must go straight back to bed. Bandit gets an idea and comes back with a white fabric glove puppet he calls Unicorse. This infuriates Chilli who doesn't think this is helping her. She tries to get Bandit to leave but he won't budge from behind the couch. Unicorse is very rude, interrupts them, plays loud obnoxious music, and laughs at his own jokes. Bluey tries to get Unicorse to behave but has little luck. Chilli and Bluey both decide to ignore him and to focus on finishing the rest of the book together.

The front cover of the Unicorse picture book made me laugh. It shows Chilli cringing and Bluey reacting in delight to Unicorse popping up from behind the couch. One interesting thing I noticed about this book was how much of the original script was included. There is so much dialogue in the book the illustrations on several pages are arranged in comic-book style panels. This book was a lot of fun. I liked how Chilli and Bluey chose to ignore Unicorse. It teaches children that you cannot control other people and how they act around you. The only thing you can change is how you react.
