Grannies might be one of the most popular and quotable episodes of the smash-hit children's television show Bluey. In the episode, Bluey and Bingo play a game of dress-ups and get up to mischief pretending to be a pair of grannies named Rita and Janet. When Bingo starts doing the flossing dance, Bluey gets frustrated at her younger sister and insists that grannies cannot floss. This causes an argument between the two girls and raises the question of who is right?
Grannies is one of my favourite episodes of Bluey. I've had friends tell me their kids have taken to calling themselves Rita and Janet and pretending to be grannies. We've also taken to playing grannies in our household and quoting lines from the episode like "I slipped on ma beans!" just for giggles. I am so fond of Grannies I even bought the Bluey and Bingo grannies figurine set for myself and put them on my writing desk.
Grannies makes for a great children's book. It was published by Puffin Books on 1 September 2020. It follows the plot of the episode and is 24 pages long. This book was a lot of fun to read to a child. I put on a funny voice when I read Rita and Janet's lines and I liked the holographic page at the end of the book where you can make the grannies floss. If you love Bluey and making your kids giggle, I recommend picking up this book.
