Back for its 25th edition is Bluesfest, one of Australia's leading blues and roots festival from Thursday 17 to Monday 21 April 2014.

It will be exceptional, huge, and absolutely unforgettable. With six performance stages, over 200 performances, and a huge line-up of the most talented artists, it's no wonder Bluesfest has become one of the most popular festivals not just for the music fanatics, but also families and kids alike. In addition, five licensed bars, over 50 market stalls and more than 40 food booths will ensure that all appetites are catered for.

Take a look at their schedule and start making plans. Don't miss some of the biggest names in music including John Mayer, Jack Johnson, John Butler Trio and Dave Matthews Band on the marvellous Mojo Stage. Blues legend Buddy Guy, mighty Joss Stone, famous Doobie Brothers and party band Ozomatli will have the crowd go wild at the Crossroads Stage.

As usual, newcomers who are set to become your new favourites will take the stage. Matthew Curry from the US will wow audiences with his music; talented multi-instrumentalist Trixie Whitley will blow you away with her unique voice; and Valerie June will have the crowd in high spirits.

What's more, Juke Joint Stage will feature the queen of rock and roll Nikki Hill; the blues institution The Music Maker Foundation; and blues legend Joanne Shaw Taylor. Some of the other awesome artists include The Paladins, The Mojo Webb Band, Chain, Claude Hay and Seth Lakeman.

Don't leave the children at home because the Kids Program is jam-packed with the best activities which will have the young ones squeal with delight throughout the Festival. Head to the Cavanbah Stage on Saturday for a multicultural educational performance: Cerole for Kids. Terrance Simien and his band the Zydeco Experience are guaranteed to fascinate, educate and even get those dancing feet moving.

What's more, there will be plenty of opportunities to see local clowns Shorty and Mr BumSqueak clowning around throughout Bluesfest adding extra madness and mayhem to the Festival. You can ride on top of the biggest ball in the Byron Shire; test your strength at tug-o-war; and visit the balloon artists to see them twist an ordinary balloon into something wonderful. Plus, don't miss out on the twilight treasure hunt, Pirate Pandamonium and the Mad Hatters Ball on the final night of the Festival. There is so much here for the kids so come along.

The trick to purchasing tickets is the earlier you buy them the more you save. One-day festival tickets start from $50 for children and $169 for adults; three-day tickets from $103 for children and $425 for adults; and five-day tickets from $140 for children and $625 for adults. For the ultimate experience, consider a Buddy Package, which gives you and a partner full access to the festival plus camping. Tickets for camping and VIP venues are also available, but they are selling out quickly. So make sure you secure your spot now.
