Unpretentious day time dining at an afford price in Highett
Last week when Hubby and I tried to go to the Bluedish, Highett road had been shut-down for electrical maintenance, but this week the road was open and we made a beeline for our favourite cafe. The outside temperature was around 8 degrees when we arrived at 8.30am, so it was quite chilly. We didn't sit outside on the pavement, but made our way inside to the warmth.

There are two sections to this cafe, the front which sits around 20 people and a back section that can take larger groups (usually families or groups of friends) or the overflow from the front section. The staff are always friendly and will direct you to the best location when you first arrive.

I always think of this cafe as having French influences, perhaps that's because the first chef that we met there was French (who was also possibly the owner), he has has moved on, but the menu still remains the same, except for the special board that changes regularly.

Hubby ordered Green Eggs & Ham - who said a restaurant/cafe couldn't have a sense of humour?

It's a great place to take family both young and old and caters to most tastes. I've met long lost friends for weekday lunches and on some occasions, even indulged in the occasional glass of wine.

Booking - you can ring and they will hold a table for you for 1/2 hour or so while you make your way there.

Disabled Access friendly - Inside:- a small step at the entrance, and not much space between the tables and chairs Outside:- furniture can be arranged to suit

Getting there:- a short walking distance from the Highett railway station

Parking - street parking can be difficult if you don't like to angle park, and Highett Rd is quite narrow, but there is free 2 hour parking on the corner of View St & Highett Rd; if that parking is full try the undercover parking under the Woolworths - it's about 5 minutes away on foot, and is located opposite the railway station.

Price - 2 breakfast mains as pictured above and two coffees came to $39.38 (purchased & consumed 11/08/2013)
