Sitting pretty on the ridge

Sitting pretty on top of a ridge, just outside Dayboro, is the Blue Ridge Lavender Farm and Retreat. Being only a 45 minute drive from Brisbane makes this the perfect country escape if you don't want to travel very far afield. The drive out to Dayboro is pretty and sets the scene for a rural get away. Easy to find, and just a short drive up a gravel driveway sits a lovely old Queenslander that is completely yours for the duration of your stay.

Rows of lavender attract busy bees

The house is very tastefully decorated and everything you need for a comfortable stay is provided. There's even a piano if you happen to be musically inclined. A generous wrap around verandah is just the ticket for a relaxing BBQ, to soak up the winter sun or just chill and read a book. It's from this verandah that you can look out over the rows of lavender, growing on the gentle slope of the property. Views from the front verandah look across the road to green paddocks and hills.

Whilst the house is high at the front, with a picturesque entry, the back door opens straight out onto a beautifully landscaped back garden. Standing at the back fence line you may find some bovine company if you're lucky.

The view's just moovelous!

These cows must have the best view in town. The rolling hills and valley spread out in front of you and sunsets from here are truly stunning.

A fiery sunset

Strategically placed to catch those views is a gorgeous old fig tree which shades a garden bench - the perfect spot for an early morning cuppa or late afternoon drink.

You really are spoilt for choice here: wrap around verandah with rural views or beautiful landscaped garden with panoramic views of those blue ridges and the valley - it's tough!

Not a bad backyard!

If you're a keen photographer you'll find plenty to keep you busy. This really is a little piece of heaven with cows, horses, valleys, hills, birds, views, roses and beautiful old trees waiting to be captured with your camera. Don't be surprised if you find a four legged companion wandering with you - Kelly needs no introduction and whilst she is super friendly, she is well trained and knows her place.

If total relaxation is high on your list of priorities, you'll be very happy here. On each occasion that we have visited we've arrived to the sound of relaxation music and the scent of aromatherapy candles. Fantastic massages can be arranged for you too - right there in the house. Beautiful lavender skin care products are provided for you and are available for purchase should you wish to take home a little piece of this paradise. And did I mention the claw foot bath?

All set for a relaxing soak

Comfy beds, reverse cycle air conditioning, cosy lounge room and well equipped kitchen, you're all set for your escape to the country. Even the bathroom has a view. With windows across the back of the house even preparing a meal is a pleasure as you look out from the kitchen at rolling hills. If cooking isn't your idea of a holiday, breakfast and BBQ hampers can be arranged for you at an extra cost.

Should all this relaxation get too much for you, the town of Dayboro is a short drive away. Here you'll find a beautiful old pub (The Crown Hotel), an IGA, cafés, a deli, bakery, award winning butcher (who specializes in many varieties of sausages), gift shops and more. Alternatively, you can do the Mt MeeTourist Drive which takes you through some of the most beautiful country you could hope to see. If it's a view you're after, make sure you stop at the Pitstop Cafe for a coffee as the view of the valley from here is unbelievably good.

Blue Ridge Lavender Farm and Retreat is also popular with wedding parties. It's a great place for the bride and bridesmaids to stay and prepare for a wedding or for the bride and groom to spend their wedding night. This is also a lovely accommodation option for wedding guests.
