Lace Monitor (Goanna) @ Blue Mountains National Park

Well camouflaged, strong muscled reptile.

The lace monitor will whip its prey with its tail for protection and its bite is naturally full of bacteria.

It is lovely to look at and watch it roam in the bush, its native habitat, on the outskirts of Sydney in our National Parks.

Listen for the bird warnings, they will be protecting their eggs, goannas love eggs and will stop at nothing to get one from an unattended nest.

If you come by a goanna, please give it right of passage.
