Once there was food and now there is superfood. A generic definition of super food is a food that contains a high concentration of nutrients. Michael Mosley, famous for the 5:2 diet, speaks about fish, nuts and olive oil being categorised as super foods in this video.
It is however not uncommon for certain new foods to gain popularity every now and then and find their way into new recipes at cafes and restaurants. And in many cases, these superfoods very well deserve their popularity. The novelty of Blue Majik is just about making its waves in the Sydney food scene, and its Smurf blue colour is only helping its case.
Blue Majik is an organic extract of spirulina that is very rich in nutrients, including vitamin B12 and antioxidants, and is anti-imflammatory. E3Live Australia is the importer and distributor of the E3Live range of products including the Blue Majik powder. As you may expect, on its own Blue Majik is not the best tasting food, however, mixed with the right ingredients, it makes a beautiful dish. I found a couple of Sydney cafes that have mastered the art and science of Blue Majik.
If this is the first Blue Majik bowl you've eaten you'll be blown away by the way it looks. It's as pretty as a picture with the striking blue smoothie bowl layered with granola and coconut flakes on one side and blue berries beside it. The blue majik powder is blended with coconut yogurt (and possibly a secret ingredient) to make this pretty magical dish. Concrete Jungle is creating waves for its plant based menu and ethically sourced meat and the Blue Majik smoothie bowl is like a feather in their cap. They also serve a Blue Majik latte to accompany the brekkie bowl.

This bowl is delightful, wholesome, pretty and very delicious. Served on a bed of granola at the bottom and topped with fruits and coconut flakes, every spoon of the Blue Majik bowl tasted like liquid gold. It's a perfect dish for warmer weathers and perhaps a great spring addition to Linea Cafe's menu. Linea Cafe has really researched what ingredients make a great start to the day and have mastered the Blue Majik technique.
