Step away from the day to day and escape to a fun Tiki-inspired cocktail bar. Blue Kahunas seating 100 brings a sense of fun and a taste of Polynesia to Newcastle.

Rum loving duo Prudence and Byron opened the doors of their unique establishment in December 2018 and have been donning their uniform of colourful tropical shirts ever since. In keeping with the ethos of Tiki bars, there is an emphasis on rum-based cocktails such as Pina Coladas, Mai Tais and Zombies but there are plenty of other delicious creations.

Adding to the fun, you may find that your drink is served in a pineapple, mini barrel or a mini Tiki head. Beer, wine and cider are also served.

The "Below Tide" cocktail was a refreshing, delicious and pretty drink that was a perfect blend of 42 Below vodka, hibiscus &lemongrass syrup, pineapple and lime.

Jaffles aka toasties are available for a snack and the flavours change regularly. The eggplant and spicy chutney filling was very tasty and complemented both my cocktail and my partner's beer.

Blue Kahunas is great fun with young friendly staff, plenty of seating options including bar stools, lounges and small tables. The disco styled background music and "tacky" Tiki decor brings out one's hidden "dag" and makes you feel happy.
