Motor neurone disease (MND) covers a group of diseases, where the nerve cells (neurones) controlling the muscles that govern how we move, speak, breathe and swallow, stop working normally. Without activation from the nerves, muscles gradually weaken and waste in various degrees which varies from person to person.
There is no cure at this stage for MND, however, a lot can be done to maintain quality of life and address the consequences of MND. MND Australia works tirelessly to fund a number of projects, looking for new clues that may lead to more effective treatments and ultimately a cure. For more information, check out the MND Victoria and MND Australia websites.
On the night of this fundraiser, raffle tickets will be sold, with all profits donated to MND Victoria. This event hopes to raise awareness and support for those living with this disease. A number of key speakers will be present at this three course dinner function, along with entertainment, and activities for all.
You can also help to make this evening an outstanding success by making a donation in the form of an item/items, for the raffle; a door prize; or a monetary donation to help towards raising funds for MND Victoria. Please show your support for all those fighting MND, as we remember those who have sadly lost theirs.

If you'd like to get involved, or feel moved to do more, please go to the website to subscribe and see how you can help. The MND Facebook page is another way to stay in touch and updated.
There are many other events upcoming you could get involved in, for that feel good experience that comes with helping selflessly. There's the Great Wall of China walk, a cycling event, an ice bucket challenge and a golf day to name a few. Volunteers are always needed to provide a listening ear, companionship, bereavement support, massage, hairdressing and more.
